I've been listening to and ratings albums in my freetime for a while now, so i figured its about time i start posting them somewhere! Ill try to post a review every week, but ill probably forget a few times. Also, if you want me to rate a specific album, just ask!

Starting off with one of my recent favorites, Everything Now by Arcade Fire.

Everything Now is an amazing concept album that dives into the idea of overstimulation and overfeeding of content. The music feels like a mix between OK Computer by Radiohead and Justice by Justice (you can disagree with me here, OK Computer was the closest album i could think of that fit the self-loathing atmosphere).

The album opens with the song "Everything Now", where they sing about how most people cant live without a constant influx of content, and how people are becoming more and more "fake" with the more content they consume, since they are becoming less like themself. Most songs in the album have similar concepts. For example, "Creature Comfort" is about how some people want to be famous or rich more than they want to live, "Infinite Content" and "Infinite_Content" being about how people will spend as much money as they can just to be content with themselves.

While the concept of this album is dim and dark, the actual music can be very up-beat. Some songs are fast and loud, (like "Infinite Content"), while others are slow and calm (like "Infinite_Content"). Some of the songs are very disco-like, some sound more indie-rock, and others are a mix of the two.

I think this album has some amazing songs, and some good songs. The ideas and premises of most songs are great, but the actual songs themselves can vary in terms of actual memorabilia. "Everything Now" is my personal favorite, while "Peter Pan" is my least favorite. However, just because its my least favorite doesn't mean i don't like it. If i heard the song on the radio, i wouldn't switch stations, but i'm not going to go out of my way to listen to it in my free time.

Overall, i would rate the album 8.5 out of 10, and i highly suggest you listen to the entire album!

This weeks album is The Dino Soars by Stegosaurus Rex.

The Dino Soars is a synthpop album from 2008. It's a quite large album, with 18 songs in the regular edition, and 19 more in the deluxe, for a total of 37. Most of the times i listen to this album, i have to do it in pieces, just because the album is 2.5 hours long.

Overall, i rate the album an 8/10, and if you like the genre, i recommend giving it a listen.

Here Come the Runts by Awolnation

This weeks album review is one that ive had very mixed thoughts of since it came out, almost none of which are actually because of the album. This review might be a little sad, or just boring if you dont care for my sob story about this album lol

Before i listened to this album, i only knew a few Awolnation songs, most of which were just songs that my mom liked. This album came out Feburary 2nd, 2018, which was a just few weeks before my 13th birthday. My mom gave me a record player and this album on vinyl for my birthday. We listened to the album a bunch together over the course of the next few weeks. During that time, i started really liking Awolnation, i saved up just enough money to buy to buy this album and Run on my shitty old ipod.
A few days after i bought them, my mom ended up passing away. Me and my brother had to move quickly from Washington to Texas, to live with our dad. This was a very hard thing for my 13 year old self to handle, not only because i lost my mother, but because i lost all my friends that i had made in Washington too. For the next few months, basically the only thing i did was listen to Here Come the Runts. My sister even bought us some tickets to see Awolnation live (and it was great btw). After a while, i started to feel better, and i started to grow distant from this album. It had been a bridge of connection between me and my mom, then it became one of my coping strategies for the loss of her, and now, i wasnt listening to it at all.
For a few years, i was avoiding this album. I knew it held some hard emotions for me. I shoved it into the big lockup corner of my brain and forgot about it.
However, a few weeks ago when i was downloading my entire spotify library, i remembered this album. I forgot practically every song in it, and i knew that even if i get emotional while listening to it, i should give it another listen after so many years spent trying to forget it.

god all that text and i havnt even talked about the actual album!! Sorry about that, ill actually talk about it now!!
Here Come the Runts is an american rock album, made by the band Awolnation. The album opens with the song, "Here Come the Runts", which starts off slow, but quickly becomes very high energy. Following it is the song "Passion", which follows the high energy of the last song. According to Aaron (the lead singer), this song was inspired by how many people claimed he didnt put any passion into his last album, Run. (i dont understand whoever was saying that, i loved his singing in that album).
The rest of the album varies a lot in style and genre, some being very slow and sincere, and some others being very high energy and aggressive. Most of the songs sound amazing, with my personal favorite being "My Molasses".

Well, my personal rating is obviously gonna be very high. This album means alot to me, and rating it anything other than 10 would be a lie.
But of course, my review is biased as hell. So instead, i got my friend pnut to rate it!

"very good 8/10"
