Played Diablo II and thought it was kinda cool. Does anyone know other PC games from the time worth checking out?

I plan on looking into...
Fallout 1 and 2
Sims 1
Duke Nukem 3D
Quake
Age of Empires
Civilization
Starcraft

Can recommend Planescape: Torment if you want good characters and an interesting story. Fair warning, the combat is nothing to write home about and playing it involves flexing the same brain muscles you use when reading a book, but IMO it's one of those games that's so unique in terms of tone you almost gotta try it to know if it's your thing or not.

If you get bored of isometrics the original Deus Ex is also really good. Cyberpunk FPS/RPG that you can really sink your teeth into mechanically.

Some of these might be from the 80s but whatever they're good

Blood is the best of the og build fps games imo
I have this whole thing about how those games are all based on exploitation cinema and that's a big part of why they work.

Anyway also Phantasmagoria 2: A Puzzle of Flesh is incredible... if you can get it to run properly.

If you've never played the classic point n clicks like The Secret of Monkey Island, Maniac Mansion, the King's Quest series, the Quest for Glory series, Sam & Max, etc... those are good too.

Tyrian is a fun time with great music if you like bullet hell space shoot games. Much more accessible and funny than most games in that genre.

I have a friend who swears by Marathon, and I like it pretty well, too. Super revolutionary for the time.

Myst is a classic for a very good reason, as is Riven.

System Shock and System Shock 2 are both rad as hell but also tremendously clunky and janky, though for me personally that's part of the charm.

Loom is another point-and-click that kicks ass.

fallout 1 and 2 are epic as hell, fo1 especially is just straight up the best fallout game ever. new vegas is nice also but fo1 is my favorite. 2 is ok also but it has a lot of pop culture references and stuff and hasn't aged quite as well as the first. quake rules. doom and heretic and hexen and stuff are all worth your time too if you can get into antiquated fps games. id also recommend MYST and Riven if you have the type of brain damage that allows you to play through them, as well as thief gold and thief 2. thief gold is very dear to me, especially.

not a 90's game, came out in 2000, but deus ex is very much worth your time if youve never played it. truly timeless
